Caoa Changan CS55 PHEV Flex Arrives in Brazil

The Caoa Changan CS55 PHEV Flex arrived in Brazil this Tuesday (15), introducing the brand's first plug-in hybrid version with a flex-fuel engine. The new model boasts a fuel consumption of 42.2 km/l, according to manufacturer tests, and a total range of up to 1,200 km.

What Changed in the Market with the CS55 PHEV

The vehicle uses the iDE-H platform, co-developed by Changan's engineering teams in China and Caoa's in Brazil. The platform supports various types of electrification, including conventional hybrids, plug-ins, electric vehicles, and range-extended vehicles.

Performance and Combined Power

The powertrain includes a 1.5 turbo TGDI flex-fuel engine operating on the Miller cycle and an electric motor, totaling 286 hp of power and 47 kgfm of torque. The 1 DHT transmission, dedicated to the hybrid system, has only one fixed mechanical gear, with most ratios managed by the electric motor. The CS55 PHEV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, 2.3 seconds faster than the combustion-only version.

Fuel Consumption and Range

In tests conducted by Caoa Changan, the CS55 PHEV Flex achieved 42.2 km/l, without specifying whether the value refers to gasoline or ethanol, but likely gasoline in a Chinese cycle. The total range, considering fuel and battery, can reach up to 1,200 km. Battery capacity, electric mode, and specific electric range have not yet been disclosed.

Details and Equipment

The SUV maintains the same dimensions as the combustion model: 4.55 m in length, 1.87 m in width, 1.67 m in height, and a 2.66 m wheelbase. The PHEV version will feature 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and an illuminated rear logo. Inside the cabin, laminated glass on the front doors and windshield focuses on noise reduction. The trunk offers 525 liters, and the lid automatically opens with two taps on the key fob button.

Price and Pre-sale

The CS55 PHEV is already available for pre-sale in Brazil for R$ 189,990, with delivery expected by the end of the year. As the brand's most expensive version in the country, it could reach R$ 200,000. The vehicle will be assembled at Caoa's factory in Anápolis (GO), where the Tiggo 5X, Tiggo 7, and Tiggo 8 models are also produced under a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) regime.
