On Wednesday morning, a pile-up involving five trucks and one car blocked the right lane of BR-101, at km 112.1, in Itajaí, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina. The accident generated a traffic jam of approximately three kilometers in the northbound direction, towards Curitiba.

What Happened on BR-101 in Itajaí

The vehicles collided in the region of the bridge over the Itajaí-Açu River, near the border between Itajaí and Navegantes. Images show the six vehicles involved, with no reported victims, only material damage.

How the Lane Was Closed

According to the concessionaire Arteris Litoral Sul, the right lane was closed, and traffic was diverted to the left lane. Teams from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and emergency services were called to signal the section and begin vehicle removal.
