On the morning of the first round of the 2026 elections, voters in Campo Grande (MS) and Sorocaba (SP) will find free buses on the streets, a measure provided for in Resolution No. 23,751 of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The initiative aims to ensure that the population can reach voting locations at no additional cost.
Free transport in Campo Grande on election Sunday
AGETRAN reported that all bus routes in the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul will operate on a weekday schedule, with no fare charged, to guarantee voter transit. The Guaicurus Consortium will monitor demand and may expand the fleet, especially during the periods of 4:40 a.m.–8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., and 4 p.m.–7 p.m.
Special traffic and transit operation in Sorocaba
In Sorocaba, the Secretariat of Mobility and Urbes are coordinating a special operation that includes entirely free public transit on election Sunday. The service will follow the weekday schedule, with 136 routes, 363 vehicles, and around 9,269 trips, serving approximately 824,000 passengers.
Rules for using the free service
In both cities, the free fare will be automatic: bus turnstiles will be unlocked to rotate without the need for a card or proof of eligibility. Access will also be guaranteed for people with disabilities or reduced mobility, as provided for in the resolution.

In addition to transit, city halls will reinforce the presence of traffic agents and video monitoring. In Sorocaba, areas near electoral offices will have scheduled closures, requiring drivers and voters to plan their routes in advance and respect temporary signage.
