Presidential candidate Romeu Zema (Novo Party) participated in a live interview this Monday (24), right after the broadcast of Jornal Nacional. The Q&A session, transmitted directly from Globo Studios in Rio de Janeiro, kicked off the round of meetings with presidential hopefuls, hosted by presenters Renata Vasconcellos and César Tralli.

Discussions on Public Security and the Judicial System

During the broadcast, which featured two segments, Romeu Zema answered questions about public security and discussed his inspiration from Nayib Bukele's model in El Salvador. The Novo Party candidate also spoke about combating crime and the functioning of the current Brazilian judicial system. In addition to these issues, Zema addressed the amnesty for those convicted for January 8th.

Economy, Privatizations, and Public Service

In the economic sphere, the interview covered fiscal and administrative topics. Romeu Zema was questioned about the country's public debt and pension reform. The candidate also responded about minimum wage policy and privatization projects, in addition to discussing salary adjustments for public servants.

Education, Combating Violence, and State Management

The Q&A session included questions about the educational sector, focusing on education and the provision of full-time school vacancies. Zema also responded about the plan to reduce cases of femicide and violence against women. Regarding Minas Gerais, the candidate answered questions about mining fraud in the state and a fraud that affected high-ranking officials in Minas Gerais.

Round Criteria and Schedule for Upcoming Candidates

The interview series brings together the six best-placed candidates in the poll released by Quaest on August 14th. The programs are broadcast live after Jornal Nacional, with simultaneous transmission on g1 and GloboNews, in addition to being made available in full on Globoplay and g1. The defined schedule for the other participants follows these dates:

  • Ronaldo Caiado (PSD): Tuesday, August 25th;
  • Renan Santos (Missão): Wednesday, August 26th;
  • Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT): Thursday, August 27th;
  • Flávio Bolsonaro (PL): Friday, August 28th;
  • Augusto Cury (Avante): Saturday, August 29th.
