Rita Guedes reveals complication after surgery and talks about Dança

Actress Rita Guedes has been drawing the public's attention by appearing in sunglasses during her performances on the segment Dança dos Famosos. The reason is related to severe complications resulting from a medical error after plastic surgery.

The procedure and eye complications

Rita Guedes underwent a blepharoplasty, which is a surgery to rejuvenate the eyelid area. However, the simple procedure ended up lasting three hours longer than normal due to issues that, according to the actress, involved medical negligence and a lack of clear reports from the professional.

After spending ten days hospitalized, the artist developed keratitis, which is an inflammation of the cornea, as well as severe conjunctivitis. The situation required her eye to be sealed shut and treated with various medications, including corticosteroids, along with exams by ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons.

Eyelid recovery and wearing glasses

The inflammation and a potential burn—which exams indicate was caused by the scalpel or pinching—affected the eye's levator muscle, responsible for lifting the eyelid. With the muscle injured and temporarily paralyzed, Rita's eyelid dropped, which prompted her to wear sunglasses during her television appearances.

Currently, the actress undergoes ocular physical therapy, as well as radiofrequency, laser, and nerve stimulation sessions. According to Rita, the eye is already responding very well to the treatments and has opened up considerably, with the use of glasses being a temporary measure as recovery continues.

The experience on Dança dos Famosos

In addition to her medical recovery, participating in the dance competition has taken Rita out of her comfort zone. The actress reports that she had never danced before and that, during the first rehearsals, she used to move in the opposite direction of her colleagues, but she can already notice progress in her rhythm.

The artist's current routine is entirely focused on three hours of daily rehearsals, which led her to adjust her gym workouts, sleep earlier, and maintain a light diet to keep up with the new professional challenge.
