Manifesto Demands Urgent STF Investigation

On Wednesday morning (9), a collective manifesto, signed by over 2,700 entities and citizens, demanded that the Supreme Federal Court (STF) open a public session to investigate the institutional crisis that has shaken the country. The document, titled “Manifesto to the Brazilian Nation,” brings together the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), and the National Confederation of Commerce (CNC), among other signatories.

What Has Changed in the Institutional Crisis

The manifesto describes the situation as an “institutional crisis of extreme gravity” and asks the STF to decide “with absolute urgency, without subterfuge and without corporatism.” It does not mention names of ministers or specific episodes but emphasizes that the court's legitimacy depends on impartiality, transparency, and exemplary conduct from its members.

Demand for Transparency and Investigation

The document asks the Court to be accountable to society, stating that a court's loss of legitimacy compromises legal certainty, trust in institutions, and social peace. In a separate statement, Ricardo Alban, president of the CNI, emphasizes that successive crises in Brasília put institutions at risk and require a “vigorous,” just, and responsible reaction.

Manifesto by Businesspeople and Personalities

In addition to business entities, the manifesto “For Law and For Brazil” was signed by personalities such as Luciano Huck, Luiza Helena Trajano, and Armínio Fraga, as well as 154 Brazilian citizens. The document calls for a complete, swift, and independent investigation of the facts, precautionary removal of anyone formally investigated, and the adoption of a binding code of conduct for superior courts and investigative bodies.

Focus on the Master Case and the Future of Elections

The manifesto refers to the Master case, which involves Minister Alexandre de Moraes and the founder of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro. The president of the STF, Edson Fachin, granted a deadline until September 22 for those involved to comment. The document highlights that the situation affects Supreme Court ministers, the Federal Police, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the National Congress, and figures close to former president Jair Bolsonaro and current president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The initiative points out that the crisis occurs just weeks before presidential, legislative, and state elections.

• The manifesto includes 157 signatures from businesspeople, economists, and liberal professionals who call for the precautionary removal of authorities investigated in the Master case.

Call to Society

The document concludes with a call for society to speak out, reinforcing that “no one is above the law.” The manifesto's page gathers endorsements from associations, federations, and unions from different sectors and regions of the country, totaling 2,764 registrations.
