On the afternoon of September 25, Almirante Participações, controlled by Marcos Lamacchia, won the auction for Vasco da Gama's Football Corporation (SAF). The only proposal submitted was approved by the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, marking a decisive step toward the completion of the sale.

Vasco's SAF auction

The 4th Corporate Court of Rio de Janeiro conducted the mandatory auction, as the club is undergoing judicial reorganization. Almirante was registered as a "stalking horse bidder," holding the right to make the first offer and to match any other proposal that might emerge.

Marcos Lamacchia's investment proposal

Almirante's offer provides for capital injections of R$ 500 million into Vasco, divided into five installments of R$ 100 million between 2026 and 2030. The investment aims to strengthen the financial structure of the club, which has been facing difficulties since the crisis involving the SAF sold to 777 Partners.

Approvals required for the transaction

For the deal to be finalized, the proposal must be approved by Vasco's Deliberative Council and, subsequently, by the Extraordinary General Meeting of members. The club stated that the agreement, the executive summary, and the main documents will be made available to council members for analysis prior to deliberation.

Anserf investigation into conflict of interest

Anserf (National Agency for Football Regulation and Sustainability) opened a procedure to investigate a potential conflict of interest, since Marcos Lamacchia is the stepson of Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras. The agency also prohibited commercial relations between Vasco and Palmeiras, including player negotiations, and between Vasco and Crefisa, controlled by José Roberto Lamacchia, Marcos's father.

Next steps and expectations

With the ratification of the auction, the process advances to the internal approval phases and the conclusion of Anserf's investigation. If all requirements are met, the transaction can be completed with no set deadline, though with expectations of a swift response from the fair play agency. The outcome will be decisive for the financial future of Vasco da Gama.
