Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar remains off the Formula 1 grid after injuring his left wrist during the break practice. The team chose not to risk a premature return, prioritizing the young Frenchman's complete recovery.

recovery underway

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies stated that the driver is not yet 100% and that the team will follow the rule of “do not participate if not in full shape.” He added that Hadjar's recovery is proceeding as planned, with no additional issues. The team will continue to monitor his progress before deciding on the next Grand Prix.

replacement by liam lawson

For the Madrid Grand Prix, Liam Lawson will take over driving the Red Bull car alongside Max Verstappen. The decision to use Lawson had already been anticipated, facilitating logistics and preparation for the weekend. Lawson will have access to the simulator and technical information of the RB22 to adapt quickly.

impact on the season

Hadjar, who sits 8th in the championship with 71 points, had a strong run before the injury, including a third place in Monaco and seven consecutive top-6 finishes. With his absence, Red Bull counts on Lawson's experience and Yuki Tsunoda's presence to maintain competitiveness.

expectations for the return

Laurent Mekies emphasized that the team will wait until Hadjar feels fully recovered before bringing him back to the track. He stressed that there are “no particular issues” and that the recovery is following the established schedule. His return will be evaluated before the next Grand Prix in Baku.
