Cold Front Reaches Southeast, Bringing Rain and Strong Winds

On Tuesday morning (29), the Southeast begins to feel the arrival of a cold front expected to change the intense heat scenario that dominated the region in recent days. The phenomenon brings a combination of rain, strong winds, and a drop in temperatures, prompting warnings from authorities.

What the Cold Front Brings to São Paulo

According to the forecast from the City Hall's Climate Emergency Management Center, the day starts with strong sun and temperatures that can reach up to 34°C in the afternoon, with relative humidity around 30%. In the late afternoon, instabilities increase, and isolated rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 70 km/h may occur, with peaks of 90 km/h in the far west, southwest, and south of the state.

Impacts in Vale do Paraíba

São Paulo's Civil Defense issued a yellow alert for the entire state and highlights that the cold front is expected to hit Vale do Paraíba this Tuesday, remaining until Thursday (1st). Captain Maxwel Souza, from the Civil Defense, informs that rainfall will be of moderate to strong intensity and that the cold air mass will spread from Thursday, causing a sharper drop in temperatures during the weekend.

Risk of Flooding and Damage

With the combination of rain and winds, there is a risk of flooding, falling branches and trees, as well as damage to fragile structures. Recommendations include avoiding wooded areas during gusts, not parking vehicles under trees, keeping a safe distance from signs and billboards, securing loose objects on balconies, and seeking safe shelter during thunderstorms with lightning.

How the Situation Evolves in the Coming Days

On Monday (28), the maximum temperature recorded was 32.1°C in São Paulo's north zone, while 99 municipalities in the state registered highs above 35°C. Inmet maintains a red alert for great danger due to a heatwave in the northern and western regions until Wednesday (30). After the cold front passes, the forecast indicates a return to warm weather next week.
