Everton Cebolinha was introduced this Thursday as Santos' new signing and is already indicating his availability to debut next Saturday, against Cruzeiro, at Vila Belmiro. The move gained prominence because the forward admitted feeling sidelined in recent months at Flamengo and seeks to regain the leading role he had at previous clubs.
Reason for leaving Flamengo
Cebolinha recounted that he asked director José Boto and coach Leonardo Jardim not to be selected against Remo, as there were still negotiations with other Brazilian clubs that could be jeopardized. He acknowledged that, despite seeing Boto's interview, there was no formal exclusion, but he felt he would no longer have the opportunity to play and seek a prominent role at Rubro-Negro.
Expectations at Santos
At his presentation, the forward highlighted Santos' history, the quality of the squad, and the possibility of playing alongside names like Neymar, Gabigol, and Arthur. He stated that the club approached him several times, that he felt valued, and that he saw Peixe as the best option among the proposals received, including one from a Russian club.
Contract and Playing Conditions
Cebolinha signed a contract until the end of the season, with a clause preventing his participation against Flamengo without paying a R$2 million fine. He has already trained with the squad, recently played against Mirassol, and awaits registration in the CBF's Daily Information Bulletin to be eligible to play.
Title Objective
The forward made it clear that his goal is to win the Copa Sudamericana, a title still missing from his career. He believes that the experience gained at Grêmio, Flamengo, and in international competitions can help Santos achieve the trophy.
First Game for Peixe
The technical committee expects to have Cebolinha available for Saturday's match, at 9 PM (Brasília time), against Cruzeiro, for the 27th round of the Brasileirão. The forward showed himself prepared, emphasizing that he already trained and played last Wednesday, and is confident to contribute to Santos' attack.
