Technical Tie in São Paulo Senate Race: Silva, Derrite, and Tebet Lead

The Quaest poll released this Tuesday (8) revealed a technical tie among three names vying for two seats in the São Paulo Senate in 2026. The results immediately sparked interest among voters, who are seeking to understand the positioning of the main candidates.

Technical Tie Between Marina Silva, Guilherme Derrite, and Simone Tebet

Marina Silva (Rede) and Guilherme Derrite (PP) each register 14% of voting intentions, while Simone Tebet (PSB) appears with 12%. The two-percentage-point margin of error, either way, places all three candidates at the same level, according to both sources.

How Voting for the Senate Works in 2026

In 2026, each state and the Federal District will elect two senators, renewing 54 out of 81 seats. Each voter must choose two different names; repeating the same candidacy is not allowed.

Profile of Leaders and Their Margins

Besides the three leaders, the poll indicates André do Prado (PL) with 7%, Ricardo Salles (Novo) with 3%, and minor candidates with 1% or less, such as Geraldo Rufino (Podemos) and Soninha Francine (Cidadania). The categories of blank/null votes and undecided voters sum up to 19% and 26%, respectively.

Voters who have not yet defined their choice remain at 26% of the total, slightly below the 27% recorded in the previous poll. The share opting for blank or null votes increases to 19%, one point more than the previous survey.

Support and Rejection Trends

Quaest also investigated the degree of recognition and voting disposition. Among those interviewed, 33% state they know and would vote for Marina Silva, while 46% know her but would not vote for her. Simone Tebet presents 22% of voters who know her and would vote for her, but 63% still do not know her. Guilherme Derrite has 29% of voters who know him and would vote for him, with 37% unfamiliar with the candidate.
