Civil Defense warns of heat and rain showers in São Paulo
High temperatures and an approaching cold front favor wind and lightning instability

The combination of intense heat with incoming moisture and the proximity of a cold front has prompted weather alerts from Civil Defense and Climatempo for the state of São Paulo this Sunday (30). The scenario favors isolated rain showers with thunderstorms and gusty winds after periods of very high temperatures.
Conditions in the capital and the coast
In the city of São Paulo, cloud cover increases throughout the morning, opening the way for moderate to strong rain showers in the afternoon. The capital maintains high thermometer readings, ranging from a low of 19 °C to a high of 33 °C.
Rain forecasts also extend to the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, the Baixada Santista, the North Coast, and the Paraíba Valley. In these areas, precipitation may reach higher intensities, accompanied by lightning and moderate wind gusts.
South São Paulo concentrates the greatest storm risk
The area identified with the highest storm risk in the state is the southern region, around Itapeva, near the border with Paraná. The forecast indicates quick, localized, and occasionally strong bursts.
Other interior areas, such as Sorocaba, Marília, and Presidente Prudente, also remain under alert for the risk of isolated rain showers throughout the day.
Dry weather and extreme heat in other regions
While part of the state faces instability, the municipalities of Bauru, Araçatuba, and São José do Rio Preto experience dry weather with temperatures that can reach up to 40 °C. The heat combined with dried vegetation raises the danger of fires in the interior of São Paulo.
In response, the state government has reinforced calls for caution regarding open burning. For drivers, the guidance is not to toss cigarette butts, matches, or other flammable materials out of vehicle windows.
Civil Defense guidelines and emergency contacts
Civil Defense recommends heightened attention during the unstable conditions, although there is no forecast of significant widespread rainfall totals. To receive free alerts via text message, people can send an SMS with their desired ZIP code to 40199.
