2026 Presidential Debate Takes Center Stage in October Nights
TV Globo Confirms Live Interviews and Debate; Record Cancels Its Event

With the second round of the 2026 Elections approaching, television broadcasts of interviews and debates between candidates Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro have garnered national attention. The on-screen dispute intensifies after the cancellation of a debate on Record and the confirmation of live interviews and a debate by TV Globo.
Live Interviews on TV Globo
TV Globo has scheduled live interviews with the second-round candidates for October 15 and 16, after Jornal Nacional, at Estúdios Globo, in Rio de Janeiro. Renata Lo Prete will conduct the interviews, with simultaneous broadcast on g1 and GloboNews, and subsequent availability on Globoplay and the network's website.
- Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will be interviewed on October 15.
- Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) will speak on October 16.
TV Globo's Final Debate
The final presidential debate of the second round will be held on October 23, also at Estúdios Globo, immediately after Jornal Nacional. The event will be mediated by journalist César Tralli and broadcast live on TV Globo, GloboNews, and g1, with the full content later available on Globoplay.
Record's Debate Cancellation
Record announced the cancellation of the debate that was scheduled for Sunday, October 11, citing scheduling conflicts between Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro. The event would have been the first presidential debate after the first round.
Electoral Dispute Context
In the first round, Flávio Bolsonaro received 47.03% of the valid votes and Lula, 45.16%. Both advanced to the second round, scheduled for October 25.
Candidates' Reactions
The national president of the PT, Edinho Silva, stated that Lula intends to participate in the second-round debates, although he acknowledges possible scheduling limitations. The senator cited TSE censorship as a reason for refusing to participate in previous debates.
