On Monday, Corinthians' board received news that Caixa Econômica Federal gave a positive signal to the agreement that could end the Neo Química Arena debt, currently estimated at R$ 630 million. This advancement comes as the Public Prosecutor's Office of São Paulo orders the club to present documents regarding an alleged R$ 45 million difference in the fine charged by Caixa.

What Caixa signaled

According to information released by press outlets, the matter reached Caixa's Board of Directors, the bank's highest decision-making body, and was approved in principle. The proposal foresees Caixa taking over the arena's naming rights, allowing the debt to be considered settled. In return, the bank would have the right to commercially explore the stadium's name for a period yet to be defined.

Naming Rights Value and Considerations

The club's board estimates that the naming rights are worth around R$ 70 million per season, a value significantly higher than the R$ 15 million annually paid by Hypera since 2020, adjusted for inflation. The agreement also includes the return of R$ 27 million deposited in a reserve account, the launch of capitalization bonds, the transfer of Corinthians' financial operations to Caixa, and the issuance of cards linked to the Fiel Torcedor program.

Suspension of Debt Payments

In the previous week, Corinthians failed to pay the third quarterly installment of 2026, approximately R$ 28 million, claiming to have received authorization to suspend payments while negotiations progressed. The board expects Caixa to formalize the suspension of payments until the agreement is concluded.

Public Prosecutor's Office Demand

In parallel, the Public Prosecutor's Office of São Paulo granted the club a 72-hour deadline to submit documents clarifying a R$ 44.9 million difference in the fine charged by Caixa. Prosecutor Cassio Conserino highlighted that the applied fine was R$ 48.7 million, while the technical representation indicates a value of R$ 3.8 million. If updated, the difference could reach R$ 196 million.

Next Steps

Corinthians awaits the formalization of Caixa's positive signal and the response to the Public Prosecutor's Office's request. Meanwhile, president Osmar Stabile maintains the settlement of the arena's debt as a priority for his administration. The situation continues to be closely monitored by fans and legal representatives, who seek to ensure the regularity of calculations and the viability of the agreement.
