Bancolombia announces rates and financing for earthquake victims
Measures released on August 20, 2026, include housing loans at eight percent and billions in resources.
On August 20, 2026, Bancolombia announced a series of special rates for housing loans and purchases, aimed at those affected by the earthquake on August 10. The package includes more than five billion in new financing to support families, businesses, and territorial entities in the affected areas.
Housing financing
The measures announced on August 20, 2026, involve housing loans at an effective annual rate of eight percent. The initiative covers financing for new or used, urban or rural housing, through mortgage loans and residential leasing.
Home renovations financed through mortgages are also included. The mentioned rate will apply throughout the life of the loan, covering social housing and other types, with application to loans disbursed starting August 25.
Consumer and microcredit lines
The bank reduced the rate for new consumer loans aimed at residents of the affected areas to an effective annual rate of ten percent. Self-employed workers can also access new microcredits at the same annual rate.
These resources can be used for working capital, recovery of operations, inventory replenishment, and strengthening cash flow. The support covers individuals and organizations from different regions.
Support for companies and entities
For affected companies, the institution has made a financing line available to ensure the continuity and recovery of operations. The resources can be used for working capital, inventory replenishment, and cash flow, with a rate of IBR plus zero percent and terms of up to 36 months.
A line was also opened for municipalities, departments, and decentralized entities. The latter features a rate of IBR plus zero percent, terms of up to 60 months, and grace periods of up to 24 months for investments in health, education, mobility, and infrastructure.
Donations and fundraising
The Bancolombia Foundation raised more than eight billion three hundred million through donation campaigns carried out by citizens, employees, clients, and companies. The funds were directed toward food, health, hospital care, as well as housing and recovery processes in the affected departments.
Regions covered by the measures
The actions announced by Bancolombia on August 20, 2026, are available to individuals and organizations located in Chocó, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío, Valle del Cauca, Southwest Antioquia, Cauca, and Tolima.
