Bancolombia announces rates and financing for earthquake victims
Special measures announced on August 20, 2026 include billions in funds and reduced rates for housing and businesses.
On August 20, 2026, Bancolombia released a series of special rates for loans and housing purchases, aimed at people affected by the August 10 earthquake. The announcement includes more than five billion in new financing to support families, businesses, and territorial entities in the affected regions.
Regions covered by the measures
The measures will be available to individuals and organizations located in Chocó, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío, Valle del Cauca, Suroeste antioqueño, Cauca, and Tolima. The Bancolombia Foundation is also working on raising funds to address the emergency resulting from the earthquake.
Special conditions for housing
One of the main measures is the new financing for new or used housing, urban or rural, through mortgage credit and housing leasing, also allowing for the financing of remodeling. The rate will be eight percent effective annual for the entire life of the loan for VIP, VIS, and Non-VIS housing categories, with an estimated benefit of around seven thousand families starting August 25.
Consumer credit and microcredit
The bank reduced the rate for new consumer loans intended for residents of the affected zones to ten percent effective annual. Independent workers can also access new microcredits with the same rate for working capital and operational recovery, which could benefit more than thirteen thousand people.
Support for businesses and entities
For affected businesses, a financing line has been enabled with a rate of IBR plus zero percent and terms of up to thirty-six months, aiming to support up to thirteen thousand five hundred companies. In addition, municipalities, departments, and decentralized entities have a line with a rate of IBR plus zero percent, terms of up to sixty months, and grace periods of up to twenty-four months.
Solidarity and reconstruction
The Bancolombia Foundation campaign has raised more than forty-four thousand donations, totaling more than eight billion three hundred million, directed toward health, food, and the recovery of the affected departments. Juan Carlos Mora, CEO of Bancolombia, stated that the country's reconstruction unites everyone in the pursuit of recovering homes, businesses, and territories.
