Banco de Bogotá and BBVA close branches after earthquake in Colombia
Entities adopt contingency measures and keep digital channels to serve customers

On the morning of August 10, 2026, an earthquake struck Colombia, prompting Banco de Bogotá and BBVA to temporarily close branches in several regions. Both institutions activated contingency protocols to preserve the safety of customers and employees.
Affected areas and suspension of in‑person service
Banco de Bogotá reported that the branches located in the departments of Risaralda, Caldas and Quindío will remain closed during the shift. BBVA, on the other hand, took preventive measures at branches situated in Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Chocó. In both cases, the decision was made after infrastructure assessments and observations of conditions in the impacted zones.
Priority contact lines
To serve users in regions with closed branches, Banco de Bogotá enabled the priority assistance line 601 742 8386 and provided a permanent WhatsApp channel at +57 318 281 4679. BBVA activated its national Call Center on 01 8000 912 227, offering phone support for questions and urgent transactions.
Digital services and ATMs
Despite the suspension of in‑person service, both institutions keep their digital channels operational. Customers can use mobile banking, online banking and ATMs to make withdrawals, transfers, balance inquiries and payments. These resources remain available nationwide, provided the facilities are in safe condition.
Monitoring and continuous communication
Banco de Bogotá and BBVA state that they will continue monitoring the situation and that any change in service availability will be communicated through their official channels. The declared priority of both entities is to ensure the safety of employees, families and customers, while providing alternative access to financial services during the emergency.
