Apple App Store Celebrates Indie Games with No Man's Sky Debut
Apple Kicks Off Indie Games Week, Highlighting Seven Acclaimed Titles, with No Man's Sky Mobile Debut on October 28.

One of the most talked-about topics currently driving searches for “apple newsroom” is the celebration of Indie Games Week on the App Store, which has already begun. The event highlights seven acclaimed titles, including the highly anticipated debut of No Man's Sky for iPhone and iPad, set for October 28.
Indie Games Week on the App Store
Indie Games Week illuminates the App Store, celebrating the catalog of creative games developed by independent teams with big dreams. Players worldwide can venture into new worlds with seven highly acclaimed indie games, available for download or pre-order on iPhone and iPad. Throughout the week, the App Store will highlight these “indie gems” with daily features and curated collections.
Carson Oliver, Apple's worldwide head of the App Store, stated: “Indie games are constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity to offer unique gaming experiences to Apple users, and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate these games and the teams who take creative risks to drive games forward.” He added that “whether from a solo developer or a growing studio, the App Store gives bold ideas a global stage — transforming audacious visions into worldwide successes.”
No Man's Sky Arrives on Mobile Devices
The acclaimed game No Man's Sky, after a period of continuous evolution and over forty major updates, will make its mobile debut on iPhone and iPad on October 28. The game will include all major content expansions to date, such as the most recent update, Cosmos, which allows players to command their own space stations.
Set in an infinite, procedurally generated universe, No Man's Sky allows players to explore, trade, fight, and survive in an interconnected galaxy, all in the palm of their hand. The game will be available for pre-order and will offer a free trial at launch. The purchase price will be US$ 19.99.
Technical Challenges and Adaptations
Hello Games, the developer of No Man's Sky, worked for three years on the iOS version, a remarkable technical challenge, as the game's universe is generated at runtime by the device itself. It's an achievement that the game is playable on devices from iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air onwards.
Despite being the full game experience, there are some limitations. The ability to build and explore planetary settlements is restricted to iPhone 15 Pro and later models, and multiplayer mode is not supported on any iOS device. The game's file size is less than 4GB. As for controls, the iPhone and iPad version supports custom touch controls and game controllers, and the iPad version also offers mouse and keyboard support. Hello Games stated: “We are eager to see player feedback on iOS and will provide appropriate support based on how many are playing.”
Other Indie Week Highlights
In addition to No Man's Sky, Indie Games Week features other notable titles. Sifu, a stylish third-person fighting game, allows players to dive into the art of combat with adapted touch controls and full controller support.
For those seeking strategy with dark humor, Vampire Crawlers is a gothic card game, a spin-off of Vampire Survivors, focusing on tactical deck building. Other featured games include Little Kitty, Big City, where players guide a curious cat through a metropolis, 9 Kings, a strategic kingdom builder, Dome Keeper, an alien mining simulator, and Yes, Your Grace 2: Snowfall, which challenges players with moral choices.
