Red alert in Curitiba and Paraná cities due to severe storms

A sudden change in the weather left the sky completely dark in Curitiba neighborhoods this Monday morning, accompanied by strong winds and reports of brief power outages. The phenomenon occurs amid weather alerts issued for hundreds of municipalities in Paraná due to the advance of a cold front combined with a low-pressure system.

The atmospheric instability is caused by the advance of a cold front associated with a low-pressure system located over Paraguay. The National Institute of Meteorology issued warnings covering 316 municipalities in Paraná, forecasting heavy rains, lightning, and wind gusts that may vary by region.

In areas stretching from West to East Paraná, significant rainfall volumes and intense winds are forecast, with the possibility of hail.
