Accident on RJ-106 and Gustavo Mioto Concert Shake Maricá
Tragedy on the highway and a musical highlight mark the city this week
A serious accident on RJ-106 in Maricá and Gustavo Mioto's performance at the first edition of Expo Rural put the city in the spotlight over the past few days. The collision between two vehicles resulted in one fatality and nine injuries, while the concert energized the Exhibition Park on the night of September 25.
Accident on RJ-106 Leaves Dead and Injured
On Sunday afternoon (27), a head‑on collision between two passenger cars on RJ-106, near the Condado neighborhood, caused the death of a 68‑year‑old woman and left nine people injured. Among the victims were two 16‑year‑old teenagers, a 13‑year‑old girl, and four adults of various ages.
Response from Firefighters and SAMU
Rescue services were called around 3 p.m., mobilizing teams from the Maricá and Itaboraí fire stations, as well as the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU). Firefighters stayed on scene until 7:13 p.m., when rescue operations were completed. Seven injured persons were taken to Dr. Ernesto Che Guevara Municipal Hospital, while two victims with minor injuries were treated by SAMU.
Impact on the Highway and Local Traffic
Because of the crash, RJ-106 was fully closed during the emergency response, affecting vehicle flow in the area. The closure remained in effect until 7:13 p.m., when the road was reopened to normal traffic.
Maricá Expo Rural Hosts Gustavo Mioto
That same week, the 1st Maricá Expo Rural, held from September 17 to 27, featured sertanejo singer Gustavo Mioto on the Main Stage of the Exhibition Park. The show, lasting about an hour and a half, attracted a large audience and included fan interaction moments, such as a girl under ten singing alongside the artist.
Cultural Program of the First Edition
Expo Rural combines Mangalarga Marchador horse competitions, Tabapu cattle shows, Barretos Circuit bull riding, an agricultural fair, crafts, and musical performances. In addition to Mioto, the event showcased other national artists and 44 local musicians across various stages.
