A storm with rain and strong winds blew the roof off the Fire Department garage in Porto Feliz, SP, with no casualties reported. The site, which was under construction, lost roof tiles that were swept away by the wind.

On Saturday morning (5), 100 km/h winds blew the roof off the Fire Department headquarters' garage in Porto Feliz, in the Sorocaba region. City hall reported that the site was already undergoing roof work, which is why the tiles were loose and were carried away by the wind.

no casualties and no structural damage

The Fire Department issued a statement reporting that there was no structural damage to the building or the unit's operational vehicles. All employees evacuated the premises at the time the roof was blown off, and no casualties were reported.

On the same day, strong winds and heavy rain also damaged the structure of a fair in Cerquilho, SP, where approximately 10% of the area of the Clothing, Industry, and Commerce Fair (Fecic) was affected. In Itapetininga and Capão Bonito, hail reached 16 mm and 21 mm, respectively. In Iperó, a fallen tree blocked a road, while in the capital, 20 fallen trees were recorded in the metropolitan area.

The cold front is expected to keep the weather overcast and rainy on Sunday (6), with moderate to heavy precipitation accompanied by lightning and wind gusts that could exceed 50 km/h. Civil Defense recommends caution during periods of heavy rain and wind, especially in areas with trees, hillsides, and spots prone to flooding.
