Unifesp opens 1,200 free spots in online specialization courses

The Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) released public notice no. 622/2026 this week, opening 1,200 spots across six free online specialization courses. The deadline to apply is September 20, 2026, and classes are scheduled to begin between October 19 and 30.

What specializations are being offered

The courses are lato sensu postgraduate programs, with a workload ranging from 520 to 855 hours and a duration of 20 to 24 months. The covered areas are: Africas and their Diasporas, Bullying, Violence, Prejudice, and Discrimination in Schools, Human Rights Education, Humanization in Healthcare: Narratives of Illness, Suffering, and Care Possibilities, Portuguese Language Literatures: Identities, Territories, and Displacements, and Prevention of Drug Abuse — Previna.

Who can apply

To apply for any specialization, candidates must hold an undergraduate degree recognized by the MEC (Ministry of Education), be familiar with computers, the internet, and email, and not have been enrolled in previous editions of the same course at Unifesp. Each specialization has a priority audience: basic education teachers and managers for five courses, and healthcare professionals, psychologists, social workers, and community health agents for Humanization in Healthcare. At each hub, 90% of the spots are reserved for the priority audience and 10% for social demand.

How the selection process works

The selection process takes place entirely online, through the form available on the official Unifesp/UAB website. Preliminary rankings will be released on September 23, with an appeal period until September 25. The final rankings will be published on September 30, followed by enrollment calls for the two scheduled rounds (September 30 and October 8). The tie-breaking criteria consider professional experience points, age, and application timestamp.

Details of the distance learning modality

All subjects will be taught in a virtual learning environment, with the possibility of pre-scheduled synchronous online meetings. There are no application, enrollment, or monthly fees. Upon completing the course, students receive a Digital Lato Sensu Postgraduate Certificate, issued by Unifesp and accredited by the MEC.

Candidates must fill out the electronic form, attach the required documentation, and follow the specific rules for each hub and specialization.
