Unstable weather with storms and risk of flooding marks the week

Atmospheric instability and the forecast of heavy rains put different regions on alert for storms, flash floods, and flooding in the coming days. While storms with lightning, hail, and wind gusts hit the region, a gradual shift in the weather is expected, with the return of sunshine and the advance of dry, cold air.

Atmospheric instability and heavy rains

The presence of a cold front and a low-pressure area maintains conditions of intense instability. Significant rain accumulation and severe storms have been recorded, with lightning, hail, and wind gusts that could reach 90 km/h in some areas.

Risk of flooding and inundation

The hydrological scenario indicates a risk of flooding for major rivers, as well as overflowing creeks and small streams, flash floods, and flooding in urban areas. The risk of incidents associated with roof damage, power grid damage, and fallen trees ranges from high to very high in several regions.

Weather turnaround and the return of sunshine

Starting Tuesday, the trend points to a gradual reduction in instability as the cold front moves away. The advance of colder, drier air will help reduce rainfall and bring back the sun, which should appear more frequently between Wednesday and Thursday.

Dropping temperatures and cold weather

Temperatures will remain milder during the days of instability, but the end of the week brings a sharper drop in the thermometers. The arrival of a cold, dry air mass will bring lower temperatures during the nights and early mornings, with frost forecast for the Serra region.
