For the first fourteen minutes of the match, the Tricolor's main organized fan groups remained silent, following a decision by a leader known as Baby, who explained that the silence would be maintained so as not to startle the athletes. The measure was taken after Dorival Júnior's statement about the players' anxiety following their elimination in the Copa Sudamericana quarterfinals.

Calleri's Penalty Goal

The silence was broken when, at 14 minutes, the referee awarded a penalty after Maripán's fall on the number 10. Luciano stepped up to take the kick, but it was Calleri who converted, putting São Paulo ahead. The goal occurred before the resumption of fan chants, which only reactivated after the 15-minute protest was completed.
