Renan Santos and Missão's Failure in the 2026 Election
Missão Candidate Reports Poor Result and Frees Activists for Second Round
Renan Santos, Missão's presidential candidate, placed fourth in the first round with 2.26% of the votes (2,656,451). In a message published on social media, he stated that the result was “very bad” and that he would not support either Lula or Flávio Bolsonaro, but that activists were free to do as they pleased.
First Round Result
With 98.79% of the votes counted, the candidate was far behind the leaders: Flávio Bolsonaro (47.24%) and Lula (44.91%). Renan highlighted that Flávio's performance was better than his own father's, but that “there is no right-wing in Brazil without Bolsonaro.”
Freeing of Activists
Renan said that “it won't make a difference who I decide to support” and released Missão's activists to choose their candidate for the next stage. He also stated that he does not recommend anyone vote for a “thug” and that the election is already Flávio Bolsonaro's.
Missão's Performance in Paraná
In Paraná, Missão did not elect any representatives, despite having assembled a broad slate: a candidate for governor, vice-governor, senator, 31 for federal deputy, and 33 for state deputy. The majoritarian candidates received less than 1% of the votes, demonstrating the gap between online projection and the ability to convert it into votes.
Fragmentation of Paraná's Right-Wing
The result reinforces the fragmentation of the right-wing in the state, where PL, Novo, and PSD concentrated the seats. Missão, created by MBL members, failed to convert its online presence into seats at the polls.
Projections for the Second Round
With 99.89% of the ballots counted, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) has 47.05% and Lula (PT) has 45.13%. Neither reached the necessary majority to win in the first round, indicating that the dispute will continue to a second round.
