Protesters gathered at Mercy Church, where JP Miller preaches, demanding answers regarding Mica Miller's death. The case has garnered renewed attention with the release of the Netflix documentary, "Death of the Pastor’s Wife," which has raised further questions about the investigation and what happened at the park.

Netflix Documentary Sparks New Wave of Protests

The three-part film brought to light details of Mica Miller's death, who was found at Lumber River State Park in April 2024. Despite the medical examiner's conclusion that the cause was suicide, demonstrators assert that doubts remain about the circumstances of the case.

Protests at Mercy Church Demand Clarification

Last Monday, protesters stood at the church doors carrying signs and commemorating Mica Miller. They demanded answers about what happened at the park and criticized the lack of a detailed investigation. Sam Rickmen, one of the protesters, described Mica as an ordinary person, not a public figure.

JP Miller Not Charged in Mica Miller's Death

Pastor John-Paul Miller has not faced charges related to Mica's death. However, he has been accused of cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators. Miller denies the accusations and has a federal trial scheduled for October.

Details on the Police Investigation

Sheriff Burnis Wilkins stated that the medical examiner's conclusion was suicide, but due to the allegations received, he requested the FBI to investigate. Protesters question the possession of weapons and the absence of clear explanations regarding the scene.

The Future of Protests and the Federal Trial

Demonstrators plan to continue protesting as JP Miller's case proceeds to court. Mercy Church did not respond to a request for comment following last Monday's events.
