The Federal Police identified, in an internal audit of Banco Regional de Brasília (BRB), payments of R$ 33 million to the law firm of lawyer Dalíde Corrêa. The contract was described by Banco Master directors as a “direct channel with the STF,” which sparked media interest and investigations.

Details of Payments to Dalíde Corrêa's Firm

The audit report indicates that, in 2024, Banco Master disbursed R$ 33 million to lawyer Dalíde Corrêa's firm, alongside R$ 40 million paid to Viviane Barci de Moraes's firm. The document highlights that legal expenses totaled R$ 215 million in the 2024 fiscal year, compared to R$ 76 million in 2023, and requests clarification on the usual level of these expenditures.

Reaction from the Lawyer and Gilmar Mendes

Dalíde Corrêa, through a statement, affirmed that she “never acted for Master at the Supreme Federal Court nor sought out Court ministers to deal with matters related to the bank.” According to her press office, her work was limited to first and second-instance lawsuits involving companies that sold credits to Banco Master. Gilmar Mendes's press office, who founded the Brazilian Institute for Development, Education and Research (IDP) where Dalíde was a director, did not comment on the case.

Context of Banco Master's Legal Expenses

The documents obtained by the Federal Police show that Banco Master directors justified payments to Dalíde Corrêa as a way to ensure a “direct channel with the STF.” No mentions of specific ministers were found in the intercepted dialogues. The BRB internal audit emphasized that the volume of spending on law firms was three times higher than the previous year, raising doubts about the regularity of these contracts.

Next Steps for the Federal Police

To date, the Federal Police has not produced diligences to evaluate the legality of the services provided by Dalíde Corrêa to Banco Master. The documents remain under analysis, and the Federal Police has not yet defined whether there will be additional investigative measures regarding the law contracts linked to Banco Master and Banco Regional de Brasília.
