Operation Interrupted Network dismantles extremist network in Brasília
Joint action by the Federal District Civil Police and five states resulted in searches, seizures and the disruption of attack plans against federal agencies.
On August 4, 2026, the Civil Police of the Federal District launched Operation Interrupted Network, aiming to prevent violent acts planned for the federal capital. The action was supported by police forces from five states and resulted in searches and seizures in several federal units.
Start of the investigation and monitoring on Telegram
The investigation originated from a report produced by the Cyber Operations Laboratory – Ciberlab – of the National Secretariat of Public Security, which monitored conversations in open groups on the Telegram platform. The inquiries began in the first half of June.
Planning of violent acts in Brasília
In the analyzed dialogues, the group discussed invasions of public buildings on the Ministry Esplanade and the Supreme Federal Court, as well as a bomb attack during electoral debates. There was no direct mention of authorities, but the messages revealed intolerance and planning of violence.
Operation rollout and seizures
Eight search and seizure warrants were executed in Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul. Among the seized items were manuals for manufacturing explosives, maps of Brasília’s central region, the ground floor plan of the Palácio do Planalto, and documents indicating the primary targets.
Profile of the investigated and objective of the action
The eight suspects, aged between 19 and 31, work in different professional fields or are unemployed, have no criminal records and do not know each other personally, interacting only online. The operation aimed to identify radicalization processes early and intervene before violent episodes solidified, protecting citizens, authorities and public and private assets.
Institutional repercussion and Safe Women strategy
Integrated Operations and Intelligence director Anchieta Nery emphasized the need for rapid and coordinated action to prevent incidents. Minister Wellington César Lima e Silva highlighted the laboratory’s role in intelligence production and the importance of inter-federal cooperation. Secretary Sheila de Carvalho pointed out the fight against hatred and hostility toward women online as one of the greatest current challenges and highlighted the mobilization of the Brazil Pact against Femicide, as well as the four fronts of the National Safe Women Strategy, reinforcing the integrated work of the police forces.
