Moraes' son wedding draws security and officials in SP

The wedding of Alexandre Barci de Moraes, son of Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes, held on Saturday (Sept 26, 2026) in São Paulo, mobilised a heavy security scheme and attracted the attention of the judiciary and Brazilian political leadership. The event, which caused road closures and an incident involving a businessman, comes at a time of crisis for the STF, adding layers of public scrutiny to the ceremony.

The ceremony and the venue

The celebration, which united Alexandre Barci de Moraes and Thaís, took place at Casa Fasano, a venue on Alcides Sangirardi Avenue in the Cidade Jardim neighbourhood, an upscale area of São Paulo. On the eve of the event, Sept 25, the Poder360 team recorded the external setup, where security guards prevented approaches and asked that images be deleted, citing a “private area.” The rental of Casa Fasano for the reception was estimated between R$ 60,000 and R$ 200,000.

Reinforced security and blocked roads

A strong security apparatus was assembled for the event, coordinated by the Judicial Police, with support from the Military Police, Metropolitan Civil Guard, Romu (Municipal Overt Patrols), Rocam (Motorcycle‑supported Overt Patrols) and CET (Traffic Engineering Company). The street providing access to Casa Fasano was completely closed, restricted to guests only. The bike lane and a stretch of the Bruno Covas Linear Park were also blocked. Drone use was prohibited, and agents said they had a system to jam the signal of such equipment and identify operators. Journalists present were photographed by police officers.

Incident involving a businessman

During the closures, drivers honked and shouted insults. businessman Gabriel Kanner, nephew of Flávio Rocha (Riachuelo), posted a video showing the street blockade and a security guard slapping and knocking his phone to the ground. Kanner said he was heading home and was instructed to turn back by police and security personnel. No organised protests were recorded.

Guests and authorities present

The guest list included ministers of the Superior Court of Justice, as well as STF ministers Gilmar Mendes, Flávio Dino and Cristiano Zanin. Also present were the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD‑MG), appointed to the Federal Court of Accounts, and former President Michel Temer (MDB), who nominated Alexandre de Moraes to the STF. Doctor David Uip, former Secretary of Health of São Paulo, also attended.

Connection to Banco Master and STF crisis

The wedding occurs amid an STF crisis intensified by the release of Federal Police documents from Daniel Vorcaro’s phone, founder of Banco Master, which pointed to a close relationship with minister Alexandre de Moraes. The law firm Barci de Moraes, headed by the minister’s wife and of which the groom is a partner, signed a R$ 131 million contract with Banco Master in January 2024 for consulting, compliance programs and legal defence. On Sept 15, the STF examined a request to investigate Moraes over these links. The hearing was suspended after Minister Flávio Dino asked for a review, with the plenary recording a 4‑to‑3 vote against a joint analysis of the petitions. The decision on the investigation may be postponed until after the October elections.
