Airport concessionaire Rede VOA has unveiled a modernization program at Frank Miloye Milenkovich State Airport in Marília, with a total investment of R$ 9.8 million distributed across three stages. The start of the interventions was confirmed in August, but the company did not detail which works have already been completed, only that they include internal and external improvements to the terminal.

first stage, phase 0, begins in august

The first phase, called Phase 0, began on August 26 and is scheduled to end on December 15, 2026. The project provides for the revitalization of 973 square meters of the existing structure, with an investment of R$ 2,853,293.31. The plaque installed at the airport indicates that the delivery of the first stage is scheduled for December 15, 2026.

expansion in two subsequent stages

Phase 1 includes the construction of an additional 427 square meters, with an estimated investment of R$ 2,314,904.19, and is scheduled to begin on January 20, 2027 and end on December 1st of the same year. Phase 2 provides for an expansion of 1,400 square meters, at a cost of R$ 4,709,778.50, with execution scheduled between February and December 2028.

security and access control

Rede VOA's statement highlights that the works comply with the Investment Program and airport security regulations. The interventions include the installation of wire fencing for access control to operational and restricted areas, in compliance with ANAC regulations RBAC 107 and 153. The concessionaire states that the segregation of areas will not impede the regular movement of aircraft, provided that applicable safety procedures are observed.

schedule and oversight by Artesp

The São Paulo State Transportation Regulatory Agency (Artesp) states that the works follow the approved planning and that there is no breach of contract. The concessionaire is in the so-called Phase I-B of the concession contract, which began in 2025 and has an expected duration of 48 months. Artesp monitors the company's obligations through inspections, keeping the schedule on track with the planning. The agency did not disclose specific details about the current stage of the renovation.

impact on airport operations

According to Rede VOA, the airport will continue to operate normally during the interventions, with no need for flight cancellations. Marília Airport operates regularly from 8 AM to 8 PM, with the possibility of operations by appointment outside this period and relying on Flight Information Service from 9:15 AM to 7:45 PM.

aeroclub reaction and security measures

The modernization announcement came in response to questions about the installation of fences and the risk of isolation of the aeroclub. Rede VOA stated that the installation of wire fencing complies with safety regulations and that there is no restriction on the institution's legal flights or operations. The concessionaire recorded occurrences of unauthorized access to the operational apron by members of the Marília Aeroclub in 2025, and in March 2026 airport credentials were cancelled due to the lack of minimum documentary requirements demanded by regulations.

total investment summary

The total investment of R$ 9.8 million is divided into three stages: R$ 2,853,293.31 for Phase 0, R$ 2,314,904.19 for Phase 1, and R$ 4,709,778.50 for Phase 2. The project includes new structures, roofing, electrical and plumbing installations, air conditioning, communication networks, camera monitoring systems, and fire safety adaptations.
