Forest fire consumes thousands of acres and destroys homes

A massive forest fire is consuming more than 15,000 acres in the Peavine Mountain area and forcing thousands of residents to leave their homes. Fire‑fighting crews have achieved 27% containment, while local authorities confirm severe material damage and dozens of homes destroyed.

The fire’s advance and evacuation orders

The blaze started and spread quickly across the area, creating scenes of dense smoke, ash, and flames near properties. Residents reported the sky turning reddish as the flames raced up the mountain.
