Gabriela Peixoto Eliminated from MasterChef and Receives Invitation from Erick Jacquin
The obstetrician who failed at baked alaska receives an internship opportunity at Jacquin's restaurant
On the night of March 15, obstetrician Gabriela Peixoto was eliminated from MasterChef Brasil after failing to execute the baked Alaska, a dessert that combines cake, ice cream, and toasted meringue. Even so, the contestant left the kitchen with plenty of reasons to celebrate her journey.
What happened in the decisive challenge
The challenge required two hours and 15 minutes to prepare the classic dessert. Gabriela tried to innovate on the creaminess by combining two types of fat, but ended up making the batter too heavy, preventing the ice cream from reaching the ideal consistency. Judge Henrique Fogaça pointed out excess sugar, while Helena Rizzo highlighted excess fat and lack of structure.
Judge Erick Jacquin's reaction
After the elimination announcement, French chef Erick Jacquin surprised everyone by breaking protocol, handing his own pin to Gabriela, and making an irresistible invitation. He said: “The day you want to spend a day inside the kitchen, with the people who work with me, with my team, just call us and you will be welcome. If you feel good, you can stay three days and this can be your life, okay?”
How the elimination affected the competition
With Gabriela's departure, Carla, Jéssica, Madu, and Jesuino make up the season's Top 5. Carla won the baked Alaska challenge, Jéssica was the champion of the previous challenge and received the pin for the dish that, according to the chefs, needed fewer adjustments to enter the menu of one of the restaurants.
Gabriela's perspective for the future
Despite being eliminated, Gabriela stated that she intends to take advantage of the opportunity offered by Jacquin and continue investing in gastronomy, without abandoning her vocation in medicine. She concluded: “I love being an obstetrician, but I love cooking so much and the certainty I have is that I won't stop.”
