Durigan Announces Selective Tax Measure After Runoff Vote
Finance Minister signals that the provisional measure will be submitted to Congress after the elections

Finance Minister Dario Durigan stated that the federal government intends to send a provisional measure (MP) to the National Congress after the runoff elections to establish the rates for the Selective Tax.
According to the minister, the proposal will be presented to lawmakers once the electoral process concludes, aiming to set the rates for the levy. By design, the Selective Tax applies to specific goods and services, with its rates determined through dedicated legislation.
A provisional measure is a legal mechanism that allows the executive branch to enact rules with the force of law in urgent or relevant matters, which must then be reviewed by the National Congress within a set timeframe. If approved, the measure can be converted into permanent law, cementing the Selective Tax rates for the specified period.
