The president's defense has filed a lawsuit with the Superior Electoral Court against Ronaldo Caiado and Renan Santos following statements made during the Band presidential debate. The lawyers are requesting the removal of posts, a fine of thirty thousand reals for each candidate, and a ban on the boosting of this content.

Action in the Superior Electoral Court

The filed petitions indicate that the opponents' statements mislead the electorate and exceed the limits of political debate. Lula's defense argues that the remarks cannot be considered republican criticisms directed at public administration, characterizing them instead as disinformation and an offense to honor.

Attacks and absences in the debate

The debate was marked by the absence of the president and other candidates. During the program, Renan Santos criticized Lula's absence and made statements directed at the president and the first lady. The petition filed against the Missão candidate compiles six statements that include terms such as thief, drunkard, and scoundrel, which the legal team points out as calumny, defamation, and insult.

First Lady Janja's rebuttal

First Lady Rosângela da Silva publicly rebutted the statements made by Renan Santos. In an official note, Janja repudiated the attacks and stated that insinuating a presidential candidate's wife's company is a reason for pity is a misogynistic tool used to ridicule the figure of women and attack a political opponent.

Party and defense stance

In a press release, the Missão party reiterated the statements made by its candidate, classifying them as political criticisms directed at public figures and the current government's performance. Caiado's defense also issued a statement, asserting that the attempt at censorship seeks to silence opponents in the face of the refusal to attend debates.
