How to Donate to August 10 Earthquake Victims in Antioquia

Understand the damage, what can be donated, and where to leave your contribution in Medellín

On the morning of August 10, 2026, a strong earthquake shook Colombia, causing damage in dozens of municipalities in the Antioquia department. Authorities have already started support actions for those affected, and the public can contribute resources and essential items.

Damages recorded in the Antioquia department

According to Governor Andrés Julián Rendón, 52 municipalities in the department reported some type of impact. A total of 352 homes, 61 educational institutions, 24 churches and seven hospital units were damaged, along with disruptions to roads in some municipalities. So far, authorities report one death in Támesis and two injured persons.

Victims and situation in neighboring departments

In the neighboring departments – Chocó, Caldas, Risaralda and Valle del Cauca – the numbers reach 110 dead, about 300 injured and a hundred missing, according to the balance up to the close of this edition. The consequences include collapsed residential buildings, hospitals with structural damage, and affected schools.

Items that can be donated

Local organizations have opened collection points to receive non‑perishable food, such as water, rice, oil, pasta, legumes (lentils, beans, chickpeas, peas), canned goods, flour, pots, chocolate, dried fruits, oats, spreads, powdered milk, 200 ml UHT liquid milk, and ready‑made meals. Hygiene and basic care items are also needed: soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, sanitary pads, toilet paper, diapers for babies and adults, wet wipes, diaper‑rash cream, towels, mattresses and blankets. Medications, clothing and expired or perishable products will not be accepted.

Collection points in Medellín

In Medellín, two institutions provide collection points: the Archdiocesan Foundation Food Bank of Medellín, located at Carrera 52 # 30A-97 in Guayabal; and the Saciar Foundation, at Carrera 50 # 25-261 in the Belén neighborhood.

How to contribute financially

The Presentes Corporation, in partnership with Proantioquia, launched the #ColombiaSeLevanta campaign to support those affected. Donations can be made through the campaign’s website, whose address was announced, and also via WhatsApp at 310 415 7033.
