Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega Fears Contract Non-Renewal with SBT
The 90-year-old veteran expresses concern about his future at the broadcaster

In an interview with the Inteligência Ltda. podcast, hosted by Rogério Vilela, Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega revealed his fear that SBT might not renew his contract. The veteran, who has been at the broadcaster for 39 years with A Praça É Nossa, said he never worried about contract renewal before, but now he is concerned.
What changed in his professional future
When asked about the duration of the current agreement, he stated that the contract would end in January. The presenter acknowledged that the decision regarding renewal rests with the broadcaster's management and that age could be an evaluated factor. At 90 years old, he will turn 91 next March and understands that the broadcaster might analyze the continuation of the partnership from a business perspective.
Plan B: lectures, but without staying away from TV
Despite the possibility of leaving television, Carlos Alberto considered giving lectures as a professional alternative. However, he stated that he cannot imagine himself away from TV, maintaining his presence as an important part of his career.
Recent renewal and doubt about termination
On the verge of completing four decades at the helm of A Praça É Nossa, the presenter had his contract renewed with SBT earlier this year. The broadcaster did not publicly disclose the duration of the new agreement. The report found that Carlos Alberto was mistaken in mentioning January as the termination date; the current agreement does not end during that period.
Life off-camera: a farmhouse in Itu
In Itu, in the interior of São Paulo, Carlos Alberto maintains a farmhouse of about 40,000 square meters, where he rests surrounded by a lake, orchard, and wooded trails. The property features a country residence, suites for family members, a wood-fired stove, a swimming pool, a soccer field, and other leisure areas. The farmhouse serves as a space for rest and family time away from the recording routine.
Impact on career and viewership
The presenter emphasized that the continuation of his work will depend on upcoming events and highlighted the good performance of A Praça É Nossa. He continues to be the first to arrive and the last to leave, always seeking to improve something in the production.
