Andrei Rodrigues and his meeting with Alexandre de Moraes at the STF
Federal Police Director-General participates in controversial meeting as the Banco Master case advances
On the morning of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, the Director-General of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, was at the office of Justice Alexandre de Moraes at the Supreme Federal Court. The meeting gained prominence as it occurs amidst the institutional crisis caused by the investigations into the Banco Master case and suspicions of irregular contact between the magistrate and banker Daniel Vorcaro.
What prompted the meeting between Andrei Rodrigues and Alexandre de Moraes
According to the newspaper O Globo, the official agenda was not disclosed, but the meeting took place at a time when the STF faces pressure over messages and contracts exchanged between Vorcaro and several justices. The intelligence report itself used by Moraes to request an investigation against Justice André Mendonça was allegedly produced in the intelligence division supervised by Rodrigues and Leandro Almada.
Espionage suspicions involving Andrei Rodrigues
Poder360 reports that, on September 8, 2026, Justice André Mendonça ordered the preventive suspension of Andrei Rodrigues and Intelligence Director Leandro Almada, under suspicion of spying on STF justices. The following day, Justice Flávio Dino overturned the decision, accepting the complaint of the police officers who alleged the need for continuity of the investigations into the funding of the film “Dark Horse”.
The Supreme Court's reaction to the case
The Chief Justice of the STF, Edson Fachin, granted Andrei Rodrigues 48 hours to respond to the allegations and subsequently sent an official letter to the PF requesting an investigation “without exception” of people or facts related to Banco Master. The letter, dated October 2, requests institutional guidance on the production of reports that mention Supreme Court justices, including Moraes himself.
Andrei Rodrigues remains in office despite accusations
Even after the suspicions raised by Mendonça, Andrei Rodrigues continues to serve as the Director-General of the PF. The Federal Police report indicates that he responded within the deadline set by Fachin, denying irregularities, and that the Chief Justice of the STF has not yet ruled on the retention or removal of the police officer.
Next steps of the investigation
Fachin scheduled a hearing with Andrei Rodrigues for October 13 to discuss the letter sent on October 2. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General's Office has not yet issued an opinion on the request. The case remains open, with the PF awaiting a definition on the need to produce reports detailing eventual links between STF justices and Banco Master.
