BR-277 Accidents Increase Congestion in Paraná
Incidents involving glass cups and soybean meal cargo lead to lane closures
On the morning of July 14, a truck loaded with glass cups overturned on BR-277, in the Cajuru neighborhood of Curitiba, causing congestion. In the early hours of September 8, two accidents on the same highway, on the coast of Paraná, interrupted lanes and required interventions from the concessionaire.
Accident with glass cup cargo in Curitiba
The 46-year-old vehicle left the port of Paranaguá heading to the capital, carrying glass cups. Upon encountering a smaller truck that blocked the passage on Rua Antonio Moreira Lopes, the driver performed an evasive maneuver. This movement caused the container to sway, and the truck overturned at km 78 of BR-277, heading towards the capital. There were no victims, and the driver was not injured. The Federal Highway Police diverted vehicles via the service road, and the concessionaire EPR Litoral Pioneiro reported a four-kilometer slowdown in the stretch.
Soybean Meal Accident in Morretes
In the early hours of September 8, a truck loaded with soybean meal overturned at km 44 of BR-277, heading towards the coast, in Morretes. The driver sustained moderate injuries. Lane 1, on the left, was closed for assistance, while traffic continued on the other lanes.
Lane Closures and Traffic Impact
On the same day, another accident occurred at km 40, heading towards Curitiba, involving a cargo vehicle whose trailer detached from the tractor unit. Lanes 1 and 2 were closed, and traffic was redirected to lane 3 or the shoulder, as instructed by the concessionaire.
Concessionaire and PRF Response
The concessionaire EPR Litoral Pioneiro coordinated the road cleanup, the uprighting of vehicles, and the maintenance of circulation in the available lanes. The Federal Highway Police monitored the occurrences, recorded injuries, and advised drivers on alternative routes.
Guidance for Drivers
In situations of closure, the recommendation is to follow the concessionaire's signage, use the open lanes, and respect the instructions of the highway police. Attention to traffic near km 78, km 44, and km 40 of BR-277 can prevent new incidents and reduce travel time.
