Fatal accident on SP-255 highway leaves two young people dead

An accident involving a Jeep Renegade and a Ford Focus on the Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros highway (SP-255) left two fatalities and three injured on the night of September 7, Independence Day.

According to Artesp's Multimodal Control Center (CCM), the Jeep Renegade attempted an illegal overtake at km 135 of the southbound lane, heading towards Jaú. The vehicle collided head-on with the Ford Focus, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The impact caused the Renegade to overturn across the lane and the Focus to hit the metal guardrail.

Ágata Priscila da Silva, 19, died at the scene. Gabriel Souza Santos, 17, was rescued and taken to the hospital in Jaú, but did not survive. Two other people sustained moderate injuries and were treated at the municipality's health units.
