Zara Larsson launches ‘midnight sun: girls trip’ and sparks global curiosity
The Swedish pop star transforms her album ‘midnight sun’ into a 12-stop global journey

Zara Larsson, the Swedish pop singer, unveiled this month a project that expands the universe of her album midnight sun (2025). The launch of midnight sun: girls trip brought enigmatic images, maps, and clues that fueled online searches and discussions among her followers.
What is ‘midnight sun: girls trip’?
It is an initiative launched on May 1st by Epic Records and Sommer House. The project features the artist on a symbolic road trip, with artwork showing her atop a pink hot rod on an open road.
How the campaign was announced
Prior to the official date, Larsson shared a map on social media titled “Girls Trip” marked with 12 flower icons distributed worldwide. Images of a decorated suitcase and its contents were also released, fueling theories about possible collaborations or destinations.
Connections to recent success
The project comes after a strong period for the singer. The single “Lush Life” reached position 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, while its music video neared one billion views. The title “midnight sun” ranked 39 on the same chart, and the collaboration with PinkPantheress on “Stateside” reached number 6, in addition to topping the Billboard Global 200 and the Spotify Global Top 50 after being used in Alysa Liu’s figure skating routine at the Winter Olympics.
Elements of mystery and expectation
The campaign opted to reveal few details about the musical content, focusing on travel imagery and the possibility of surprise appearances. The use of flowers on the map might represent guest artists, although Larsson herself has not confirmed this.
Significance of the road trip for the artist
Throughout her career, Zara Larsson has crossed cultural and musical boundaries. The choice of a travel concept reinforces this characteristic, connecting the visual aesthetic to the global movement of pop music.
