On August 4, 2026, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) announced the sale of a service that delivers, in milliseconds, posts from accounts deemed the most influential on Truth Social. The initiative, called Truth API, promises the financial market near-instant access to information that can move stock exchanges.

What the Truth API Offers

The Truth API works as a data feed that streams, in real time, posts from prominent accounts on the social network. The company says the service was designed to reduce the cost of information delays, which is critical for high-frequency operators. Although TMTG has not confirmed the exact price, the Financial Times reported that the cost can reach $100,000 per month for institutional clients.

Who Can Benefit from the Service

The product is primarily aimed at high-frequency trading firms and institutional investors who use algorithms to buy and sell assets in fractions of a second. According to Charles Schwab, these systems seek small per-trade gains but accumulate significant returns thanks to speed and volume. TMTG itself states that, although any interested party can pay, the service was conceived for those who depend on rapid information.

Legal and Ethical Issues Raised

Since the announcement, doubts have emerged about the possibility of insider-trading practices. Former White House chief ethics lawyer Richard Painter warned that, even if the president does not trade on government information, the paid transmission of such data could constitute the so-called “tipper-tippee” liability. He suggests that the law could be applied to posts dealing with tariffs, wars, or other public policies.

Reactions from Politicians and Regulators

Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff sent a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requesting an investigation into the Truth API. The SEC confirmed receipt but has not commented on any inquiry. In response, TMTG accused the senators of distorting the service due to ideological opposition or a lack of understanding of the difference between public and private information. The company also stated that the lawmakers crafted an insider-trading theory based on data already publicly available.

Market Outlook and Criticisms

Experts note that other data providers, news outlets, and exchanges already offer similar services, which could set a precedent for the Truth API. However, Themis Trading co-founder Joe Saluzzi labeled the product “useless” for firms that do not yet have infrastructure capable of operating at the nanosecond level. He indicates that only high-speed traders who have already invested millions in technology are likely to adopt the service. TMTG has not disclosed how many clients have signed up before operations began.
