Remain Gets First Trailer Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor

The release of the first trailer for Remain has put the film in the spotlight for fans of cinema and literature. The production marks the first-ever collaboration between filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks, delivering a mix of supernatural romance and suspense.

The union of two different creative minds

Decades ago, Nicholas Sparks tried to convince a young M. Night Shyamalan to adapt the book The Notebook, but the filmmaker turned it down to helm The Sixth Sense. Years later, the duo reunited with a proposal for each to create an original story for their respective mediums. From that meeting, the project Remain was born, developed simultaneously as a book and as a feature film.

The plot of mystery and romance

In the film, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Tate, a reclusive architect who travels to a coastal town to finish a project and cope with grief following his sister's death. There, he meets Wren, played by Phoebe Dynevor, a mysterious young woman who pulls him into the center of a deadly mystery. The work explores a central relationship between a living man and, effectively, a ghost, forming lovers who cannot touch each other.

The film's cast and production

In addition to Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor, the cast includes Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders. Direction and screenplay are by M. Warner Bros. Pictures released the production's first promotional material, which combines elements of romance and suspense. The film's theatrical release is scheduled for February 5, 2027, close to Valentine's Day, following a shift from initial release plans.
