Real Madrid vs. Villarreal: Decisive Clash in Matchday Eight of LaLiga

Real Madrid host Villarreal this Saturday at 4 p.m. (Brasília time) at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, in a match valid for matchday eight of the 2026/27 LaLiga season. The clash takes center stage as the Madrid club look to bounce back from their defeat against Atlético Madrid and welcome back Kylian Mbappé.

What is at stake in the match

With 15 points, Real Madrid sit fourth in the standings, while Villarreal are in 9th place with eight points. A victory would be crucial to narrow the gap to league leaders Barcelona, who have 21 points.

Real Madrid's injuries and absences

Manager José Mourinho has several players unavailable: Éder Militão, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy, and Raúl Asencio are injured; Dean Huijsen is suspended following his sending-off in the Madrid derby. In addition, Ibrahima Konaté is experiencing discomfort, but remains on the pitch.

The return of Kylian Mbappé

Mbappé, who injured his left knee in a match for the French national team, trained normally throughout the week and was confirmed as a starter. The French forward's inclusion sparked controversy in the French media, but Mourinho stepped up to defend the player.

Mourinho's tactical challenge

The coach is looking for a partner for Antonio Rüdiger in central defense. The absence of Dean Huijsen and the condition of Raúl Asencio open up the possibility of deploying Aurélien Tchouaméni as a center-back or opting for another alternative. Rüdiger, in excellent physical shape, is expected to be the main defensive anchor.

How to watch live

The match will be broadcast by Cazé TV and can be followed in real time on ge. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. (Brasília time) at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid.

Mourinho's statement

— My hope is that the Bernabéu is fair. Being fair is being smart. Reading between the lines and understanding the dynamics. Understanding the goals. I promise that if a Real Madrid player doesn't behave like a Real Madrid player and fails as a Real Madrid player, failing to fulfill their obligations as a player or as a citizen, you will not see that player on the bench —
