Other Mommy: Jessica Chastain's Dual Horror Fails to Scare as Promised
Disturbing imagery and a chilling performance aren't enough to make the film terrifying
The film Other Mommy features a chilling dual performance by Jessica Chastain, who attempts to anchor a demonic double horror. Despite a few genuinely unsettling visual moments, critics found the production to be rather muddled.
The trailer, which gained traction ahead of Halloween, was described as “viral” and “limb‑bending,” generating screenshots that quickly turned into memes. The official YouTube channel racked up over 30 million views, with BuzzFeed even publishing a flashy headline about the video's impact.
Even with those promotional elements, critics note that the film—kept away from reviewers until release—ultimately reveals itself as a jumble of ideas, falling short of the nightmare level its title suggests.
