Neagley claims the top spot in Prime Video streaming metrics
Reacher spinoff series breaks viewership records and has already been renewed
The premiere of Neagley, a spin-off of the Reacher franchise, claimed the top spot in streaming metrics for the week of September 14 to 20, outperforming the original series itself and other international productions.
Neagley leads the streaming week
According to Nielsen's rankings, the series accumulated 1.78 billion viewing minutes in its first week, placing ahead of titles such as Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story and Reacher, which took third place with 1.42 billion minutes.
Quick renewal for the second season
Following this performance, Prime Video confirmed the series' renewal for a second season on the very same Thursday it released the figures.
International reach and Brazilian audience
Amazon reported that Neagley reached 40 million viewers in its first 13 days, becoming the platform's fourth most-watched debut, with more than half of the audience coming from outside the United States, notably Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
Production and Chicago setting
Based on Lee Child's books, the series follows Frances Neagley, a Chicago-born and raised private investigator who looks into the suspicious death of a childhood friend. Although much of the filming took place in Toronto, the production carried out an intense shooting schedule in the city of Chicago, including iconic scenes under the subway lines, at Wrigley Field, and on the streets of the South Side.
Cast and creative team
Maria Sten stars as the lead, delivering a performance that, according to Amazon, "drives each episode." The cast also features Greyston Holt, Adeline Rudolph, Jasper Jones, Matthew Del Negro, and Damon Herriman, alongside an appearance by Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher. The series was created by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, who serve as co-showrunners and executive produce alongside partners from Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios.
