Maju Coutinho announces first pregnancy and celebrates with Caetano and Gil

Journalist Maju Coutinho, 48, announced on Friday (the 28th) that she is expecting her first child, a boy named Malik. The news quickly gained attention and comes from the marriage of the Fantástico presenter with visual artist Agostinho Paulo Moura.

Maju Coutinho revealed the news in a post accompanied by photos with her husband, 61‑year‑old Agostinho Paulo Moura, holding a baby onesie. The presenter described the moment as "First‑time mother and third‑time father embarking on the show of private life." Agostinho already has two sons, Danilo and Gustavo, from a previous relationship. Baby Malik will be Maju's first child.

In her statement to her future son, Maju Coutinho quoted verses from the song "Boas‑Vindas" by Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, released in 1991. "Malik, desired son, we welcome you, welcome, welcome," the journalist said. She also recited part of the lyrics:

"Come and know life. I say it is delightful. There is sun and there is moon. There is fear and there is rose. I say it is delightful. There is night, there is day. Poetry and there is prose. I say it is delightful. There is death and there is love. And there is motto and there is gloss. I say it is delightful."

Reflections on motherhood

The presenter, married to Agostinho Paulo Moura since 2009, had already addressed motherhood in 2024 during her appearance on GNT's program Saia Justa. At the time, Maju Coutinho reflected on the desire to be a mother and social pressure. "I haven't closed the doors, right? I've said I don't know if I want it, I've had doubts, I've said I didn't want it, I've reconsidered… The hardest thing is separating what is genuinely a wish and what is pressure from a culture that says I must be a mother?", she questioned.

In the same interview, Maju also revealed she had frozen her eggs, adding another layer to her discussion about women's reproductive choices in society.
