Young Quilombola Voters Defend Voting for Their Ideals
Youth from the Antinha de Baixo community will head to the polls with the help of a family member
On October 4, 87-year-old farmer Joaquim Moreira, the oldest member of the Antinha de Baixo quilombola community in Santo Antônio do Descoberto (GO), will make his way to the polling station with special company.
He will be joined by his granddaughter, 16-year-old student Thauany Silva, who will be casting her very first ballot. Both will participate in the election on the same day, highlighting the importance of youth and elderly participation in democracy.
