Alexander Isak opened the match between Liverpool and Ipswich Town with two goals in the 6th and 9th minutes, creating the club's fastest brace in the Premier League since 2011. The feat reignited attention on the Swedish striker, who arrived at the club in a record-breaking transfer.

Record for fastest goals

According to the Opta database, Isak surpassed the previous mark set by Maxi Rodríguez in 2011, who had scored two goals in the first seven minutes against Fulham. Isak's goals in the 6th and 9th minutes put Liverpool into an early lead and secured his name in the club's record books.

Season performance

After a first season limited to 22 appearances and four goals due to injuries, Isak has returned to scoring, netting three goals in the first two rounds of the Premier League, including the goal against Nottingham Forest. The strong start indicates that the investment made in his signing is beginning to pay off.

Expert predictions

Analyst Lewis Steele, in an interview on the Media Matters podcast, tipped Isak as a candidate for Liverpool's player of the year and the team's top scorer. Steele suggested that if the striker finds his rhythm, he could reach around 20 goals this season, contributing significantly to Andoni Iraola's first campaign.

Possible attacking combinations

Steele highlighted the possibility of forming an attacking trio with Florian Wirtz as a number 10, Isak as center-forward, and Bradley Barcola on the wings. He also praised the quality of Liverpool's four wingers – Barcola, Munoz, Gakpo, and Rio – indicating that internal competition could raise the collective level.

Expectations for the future

With the positive signs already observed against Nottingham Forest, expectations are that Liverpool's attack will find greater cohesion in the coming weeks. Isak's performance will be central to determining whether the club will reach the projected 20 goals and consolidate his position as the main attacking weapon under the new manager.
