Inter receives second transfer ban in less than 30 days

On September 17, Inter received its second transfer ban imposed by FIFA in less than 30 days. The sanction prevents the club from registering players for three transfer windows, linked to a debt for the purchase of left-back Ramon from Olympiacos, Greece. The player is currently on loan to Vitória.

Transfer ban related to Ramon

The punishment is directly linked to the negotiation carried out in January of last year, when Inter acquired Ramon. The debt remains unpaid, which led FIFA to block the registration of new athletes.

Second block in a short period

On August 25, the club had already been penalized over the purchase of center-back Juninho from Midtjylland, Denmark, in a negotiation from February of last year. Thus, the new sanction follows a sequence of financial restrictions.

Management's effort to reorganize accounts

Amidst the block, Inter paid overdue salaries and advanced payments to players using funds from a R$ 20 million donation by businessman Delcir Sonda. The board stated that the transfer window was already closed and that market movements had ended after the signing of Tonny Sanabria.

Other financial pending issues

In addition to the debt with Olympiacos, the club has other recent liabilities: with Racing for the purchase of Carbonero, and with Dansoman Wise, from Ghana, for the acquisition of Benjamin Arhin. The African club filed a claim with FIFA to collect the debt.

Possibility of new punishments

Following the first sanction, president Alessandro Barcellos admitted the possibility of new punishments due to the financial scenario faced by the club. Inter has not yet officially commented on the new sanction published by FIFA.
