Vehicle registrations rise 10% in July
Cars, trucks and motorcycles grow, while buses still decline.
On August 4, 2026, Fenabrave announced that in July, Brazil recorded 504,574 registered vehicles, representing a 10.17% increase compared to July of the previous year and a 3.31% rise over June.
Overall registration growth
The increase includes cars, light commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, motorcycles and road equipment such as trailers and bodies. According to the entity, July was the third best July in history, placing the month among the most favorable periods for the industry.
Performance of cars and light commercial vehicles
When focusing solely on cars and light commercial vehicles, the total volume reached 265,695 units, with a 2.02% increase over June and 15.54% compared to July 2025. Fenabrave president Arcelio Junior attributes this advance to the Sustainable Car Program, which reduced IPI rates for the lighter and more sustainable models, generating figures 29.4% higher than the period before implementation.
Recovery of the truck segment
After a series of declines, trucks recorded an 18.89% rise over June and 7.16% compared to July of last year. Junior explained that the recovery is mainly due to stages 1 and 2 of the Move Brazil Program, which encourages fleet renewal in a segment directly linked to GDP, industrial development, and agribusiness.
Bus sector situation
The bus segment showed modest growth of 4.26% over June, but still presents an annual decline of 2.32%. The yearly decline was attributed to the lack of specific government programs, although the second phase of Move Brazil, which made R$ 2 billion available in credit for bus financing, has softened the contraction.
Motorcycle surge
Motorcycles maintained an upward trajectory, with a 2.55% increase over June and 3.11% compared to July of last year.
Projections for the remainder of the year
Fenabrave maintains growth expectations for total registrations, projecting an increase of about 8.6% by the end of 2026, which would represent more than 5.3 million units sold throughout the year.
